We are ICE AGE
From a small family enterprise to Georgia's leading ice manufacturer — we made buying ice part of the ordinary Georgian shopping trip.
Our story
ICE AGE effectively created the retail ice market in Georgia. When we started, packaged ice was a rarity on a shop shelf; today it is a standard item in the country's supermarkets.
Over the years the operation grew into a fully automated plant that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Today we supply the supermarket chains and serve hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars directly, across the country.
In 2023 ICE AGE joined the European Packaged Ice Association. That recognition makes us the only ice company in the region standing alongside Europe's leading producers.
It all starts with the water
Our facility sits in Natakhtari, in a region known across Georgia for the quality of its water. Meltwater from the Caucasus peaks travels underground, purifying naturally and becoming enriched with essential minerals along the way.
That water quality is a large part of why Georgian beverages and mineral waters travel so well. We start from the same source — and then purify it once more before it ever becomes ice.
Technology that makes the difference
Our plant is equipped with current-generation technology and runs continuously. Automated packaging, industrial ice-making and our own cold storage all sit on one site.
The ice-drying system is our key advantage: it guarantees the cubes stay separate. The ice is more durable, melts more slowly, and when the customer opens the bag they find individual cubes rather than one solid block.
A separate, dedicated line produces our crystal-clear ice using slow directional freezing — a method that pushes air and impurities out of the water as it freezes.
Making ice is energy-intensive, so the roof of our plant is covered with solar panels — reducing both our footprint and our dependence on the grid.
Treated as a food product
Ice is a food product, and we handle it like one. Filtered water, a controlled production environment, sealed packaging and an unbroken cold chain through to delivery — the standards that EPIA membership requires.
